First Flatiron in Snow

A little snow overnight - along with loud thunderstorms. A run up alongside the first flatiron in the morning before irritating work

Saturday ran the Kooky Spooky Half Marathon in Golden / Arvada. Early on looking good...

...near the finish looking less good, the hat hanging heavier with sweat

Great race. 13 / 342 with a 1:39:49

Caribou Ranch Open Space

Friday morning at Dry Creek

Saturday we headed up to Nederland for a run. The wife chose getting a hot coffee over running in the cold wind at 8,500' while I chose the 5.5-mile loop at Caribou Ranch Open Space - complete with an old mining town and a homestead

The Flatirons

Running options are still limited but still awesome. It was a work week with runs around the Flatirons

Took a break on a beautiful Wednesday morning run up alongside the 1st Flatiron to watch some rock climbers

Thursday Leadville Chuck and I did a loop from Cragmoor TH to Bear Peak and over to South Boulder Peak. 8 miles and 3,500'. Impressive - except in Colorado. We now joke that regardless of what you accomplish someone is besting you at that moment. Today we were passed twice by Homie - granted he is a local legend who just fell short of trying to set the record of the fastest summit of all 55 of Colorado's 14'ers (currently a little less than 11 days). We also were passed by a guy maybe 70 (we were just finishing, to our defense)

The New Blog

I couldn't come up with anything clever for the title so went with La Luz. La Luz was one of my favorite trails in New Mexico - only did it once but it was memorable. It's also one of the races I hope to do next year (there is a lottery)

The past month we have been working on the house we just bought. 5 days after we closed Boulder flooded. We came out as fine as can be with 14" in 20 hours. This is a few days after and six blocks up from us

At the summit of Mount Evans and the views are not obvious with the iPhone. I was pretty happy to not be at work

A couple of pics while on a run with Leadville Chuck to the summits of Colorado Mines Peak and Mount Flora from Berthoud Pass

At the start of the Golden Gallop 10K. Perfect day for running - sunny and 38F. 25/220 at a 7:22 pace

Dry Creek is finally open so Hudson is back to hanging with his buddies. For one month we were going to the track up the street which was OK but not nearly as fun. Some nice sunrises though

With over 50% of the trails still closed I've had to look for other local runs during the work day and have found some - like a few cool ones that weave alongside the flatirons. This is #3
